My name is Anna Avetisyan. I was born and raised in Armenia and graduated from Yerevan State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan. Immediately after completing my studies, I began my teaching career at Secondary School No. 11 named after Monte Melkonyan, where I taught Armenian History and Fundamentals of the Armenian Church. Those early years shaped my understanding that teaching is not only the transfer of knowledge, but also the nurturing of character, faith, and identity.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, I have devoted my life to educating young generations about the rich heritage, language, and spiritual traditions of our homeland. My deep Christian faith has always guided my approach in the classroom, helping me teach not only facts and dates, but also values: respect, compassion, responsibility, and love for one’s roots. I strive to bring together the best of both worlds, Armenia and the United States, so that my students grow as confident Armenian-Americans who feel equally connected to their ancestral culture and the society in which they live.
At first, I may appear strict and demanding, because I believe discipline and high expectations are essential for growth. Yet very soon that firmness transforms into warmth, trust, and a strong bond between me and my students. They come to understand that my goal is always to bring out their very best. Seeing their progress, their curiosity, and their pride in being Armenian is the greatest reward of my work.
As a teacher at Erebuni Armenian School, I consider it my mission to strengthen our Diaspora community by fostering love for the Armenian language, history, and Christian traditions. By helping students value their identity and heritage, I hope to contribute to the continuity of our nation’s legacy and to raise a generation that will carry Armenia in their hearts wherever they live.
