My name is Gohar Markosyan. I was born and raised in Armenia, where I developed a deep love for education and teaching. I graduated from Yerevan State Pedagogical University, majoring in the Mathematics–Informatics Faculty. After graduation, I worked as a mathematics teacher at a
secondary school in Yerevan for 15 years.
In 2017, my family and I moved to the United States, where I immediately joined the wonderful staff of Erebuni Armenian School, first as a substitute teacher and later, after a year, as a full- time teacher. I am very proud that in the Diaspora I can make my small but meaningful contribution by teaching our children Armenian, helping them preserve their cultural identity, and mentoring them to become well-rounded, confident individuals. I strongly believe that learning should be interactive, engaging, and meaningful. By encouraging participation, discussion, and problem-solving, I strive to motivate students and help them gain confidence in their abilities. Creating a positive classroom environment where students feel seen, heard, and valued helps inspire them to learn—not because they have to, but because they want to. This approach is especially important in motivating students to wake up and come to school on Saturdays, turning learning into an experience they look forward to rather than a responsibility they avoid.
Building strong connections with my students has always been at the heart of my teaching philosophy.
Alongside this, I continue teaching mathematics here in the U.S., sharing my experience and passion for the subject with new generations of students.
I am married and have three children. In my free time. Teaching is not just my profession, it is my passion and a lifelong commitment to shaping young minds with care, dedication, and purpose.
